When I was working on the Raptors timeline video I was excited to find a clip for Bryan Colangelo getting kicked to the curb to make way for Masai Ujiri. The first clip I found made me do a pretty serious double take.

The clip starts out with, “After years of listening to fans on twitter beg him to do so, Bryan Colangelo has stepped down.”
Yikes. This is probably just a way for the host to bring up the fact that Colangelo was not exactly loved by the Raptor fans…. But considering Bryan’s issues with twitter it got me thinking. Maybe this line actually meant something more. Did Bryan voice his frustrations about twitter users criticizing him? Was there a different burner account back then? Who knows. At the very least, it is pretty funny considering what happened.
The next part goes, “After realizing he really wouldn’t play a significant role in the team. He made the decision to leave.”
Wow that sounds exactly like what the Colangelos and 76ers management did to Sam Hinkie. They brought in Jerry Colangelo to server as a “Consultant” and then Jerry pushed his unemployed son Bryan onto the team at the top of the organization. Which left Sam Hinkie as the odd man out and forced him to resign. Even though these events happened long before the Colangelo special in Philly…. It was nice to hear Bryan getting a taste of it too.
And finally at the end they mention that even though Bryan stepped down, he would remain on as a consultant. Of course this brings back memories of our old friend Jerry Colangelo. Jerry somehow remained a “consultant” with the team until the end of 2018! He outlasted his son!
